Terms of business

1. We welcome clothes and accessories for women, men and the young set that are generally seasonal, in excellent condition and, preferably, no more than two years old (jewellery and some accessories excepted).

2. Clothes must be either new, freshly washed or, if necessary, dry cleaned. If Clients are unsure whether items will be accepted, in order to avoid unnecessary expense Renaissance can arrange for the dry cleaning of accepted items and the cost will be charged accordingly (See Clause 4). Likewise in order to maintain our high standards, if it is deemed necessary we reserve the right to launder, spot-clean, depill or recondition items, at a nominal cost displayed at the counter (see Clause 4) – at the time of handing over items, Clients should inform us if they do not want these services and they will be duly returned.

3. All items are sold on a commission basis – 40% of the final selling price to the Client, less the nominal handling charge which is applied to each item accepted for sale.

4. Total charges for each list (see Clauses 2 and 3) are payable when the Client first receives payment for sales achieved.

5. Items will be offered for sale for a period of two months and the selling price will only be reduced if requested by the client. Items not sold after two months will be either collected by the Client or donated to Charity. We would specially request that Clients comply with the collection date noted on the receipt.

6. When items are left at the shop without being processed, Clients are asked to collect their receipt and/or any items not accepted, at the earliest opportunity – any items not collected will be donated to Charity after eight weeks without further reference to the Client.

7. After one year from the date of their receipt, if Clients have not contacted, any proceeds from their sales will be donated to charity.

8. It is advisable to telephone before bringing in large amounts and it would be appreciated if Clients would please try and avoid bringing items in on Saturdays.

9. The authenticity of items offered for sale will remain the responsibility of the Client and they are deemed to belong to the Client and not be subject to hire purchase, credit sale or similar.

10. Clients are asked to contact us periodically regarding the sale of their items quoting their receipt reference number/s.

11. Payment will be made to the Client in person, or their representative – if this is not convenient, however, final settlement cheques or interim settlement cheques over £20 can be posted.

12. Whilst the very greatest care is taken, Renaissance cannot accept liability for stolen or damaged items.
